Adopt Value-Based Payment Reconciliation Systems Soon to Meet Expanding Healthcare Payer Needs
U.S. healthcare payers are expanding value-based provider payments, but the IT applications and manual processes used to handle those payments are inefficient and ineffective. Payer CIOs must be early adopters of automated value-based provider payment reconciliation systems.
Download this report to learn more about the following key findings:
- Most payers use inefficient manual processes to calculate periodic provider bonus payments. Payers’ next-generation value-based contracts (VBC) with providers increase both the complexity of administration and financial risk associated with doing that poorly.
- Lag time between provider action and incentive payment blunts the effectiveness of value-based payments in improving quality and care management outcomes. Payers have an opportunity to strengthen provider relationships and build trust by transparently sharing accurate incentive data with providers.
- Complete value-based payment reconciliation systems are still emerging. Provider payment IT systems are available, but extended reconciliation functionality is largely still in development from payment, analytic and core administrative processing vendors.
