Spectrum Health Joins Lightbeam Health Solutions at HIMSS22 in Orlando

Representatives from Spectrum will be available in the Lightbeam booth to present results from a new program benefitting medically underserved populations

IRVING, TX – March 15, 2022 – Lightbeam Health Solutions, the leader in end-to-end population health management solutions and services, today announces that Spectrum Health will be joining the Lightbeam Health team at booth #1721 during HIMSS 2022, taking place March 14-18 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. Representatives from Spectrum will be onsite to promote the results of a new patient impact story and case study facilitated by Lightbeam.

In 2021, Spectrum deployed a new pilot program for Priority Health, a subsidiary health plan that serves more than 1.2 million members throughout Michigan. The new pilot utilizes Lightbeam’s Cohort Builder to identify patients facing homelessness and who have one of several high-risk chronic conditions. Leveraging Lightbeam’s automation functionality, patients are assigned to community health workers who can connect them with resources for housing, food, and other social services that improve their wellbeing and outcomes.

“The impact of the Priority Health pilot program has been significant,” said Maha Salahuddin, MPH, Director, Population Health Data and Analytics at Spectrum. “Addressing the underlying social determinants of health for vulnerable and underserved patient populations is key to being able to deliver true patient-centered care. We are proud of the efforts of our community workers and happy to share this powerful patient impact story with the audience at HIMSS.”

Additionally, Lightbeam will publish a case study showcasing the results Spectrum achieved in reducing swing bed utilization. Though they play a valuable role in rural care delivery, swing bed use can be costly—for Spectrum, as much as $50,000 per patient stay—when other, more affordable resources are available. In cooperation with Lightbeam, Spectrum staff designed a process to educate staff and limit swing bed authorizations, curbing spend without sacrificing care quality.
